L'industria del sughero
La lavorazione del sughero esoprattutto l'uso dei turaccioli venne introdotto in Italia verso il 1600 ad opera dei droghieri. Costituivano allora un articolo quasi esclusivamente d'importazione, e la Spagna ne conservò il monopolio.
Nel 1882, venne fondato il Sugherificio Marangoni & C., uno dei più grandi in Europa, con una produzione annua di cento milioni di tappi per bottiglia.
Non si hanno notizie di quando fu fondato questo stabilimento a Bovisio. Si sa che erano occupati centinaia di operai.
La produzione dei turaccioli del Sugherificio Marangoni cresceva in seguito ai bisogni di una fiorente industria enologica. Ottenuti con macchine automatiche e perfezionate che lavorano il sughero senza alterarne i pregi, sterilizzati con un processo specialissimo che tenevano conto dei risultati di lunghe esperienze,procurarono alla Ditta un tale successo che si aumentarono i macchinari e ampliare i capannoni.
... Ma come tutti gli altri insediamenti produttivi, è stato sostituito da nuovi insediamenti urbani.

Cork industry
Cork processing and especially the use of stoppers was introduced in Italy around 1600 by grocers. They were almost exclusively imported products of which Spain kept the monopoly.
In 1882 the cork factory Marangoni & C. was founded. It was among the biggest cork factories in Europe, with an annual production of a hundred millions of corks.
We have no further information on the foundation of this factory but we know that here were employed hundreds of workers.
The production of stoppers in the factory started to grow due to the development of the wine industry.
Obtained with automatic and enhanced machineries that processed cork without altering its value, and sterilized with a special process, result of long experience, these products obtained such a success that machineries were increased in number and the plant was enlarged.
... But as all the other factories it was then substituted by new urban settlements.
